Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama attended the opening ceremony of the “New Era, New Technology: Xi’an Forum on China-Japan Cooperation in Intelligent Rehabilitation and Healthcare” and delivered a speech.



① On June 11, the “New Era, New Technology: Xi’an Forum on China-Japan Cooperation in Intelligent Rehabilitation and Healthcare” grandly opened. The event was co-hosted by the China Food and Drug Corporation Quality and Safety Promotion Association and Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital, and organized by Chinese Cultural Figures magazine. Co-organizers included the China Association of Rehabilitation Technology Transformation & Promotion, the World News Union, the Chinese Water Resource and Electric Power Medical Science and Technology Society, the International Health and Medical Promotion Association (Japan), Shohka Co., Ltd., Kawai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Kang Rui Biotech.
② At the forum’s opening ceremony, former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama met with Zhou Zhandong, President of the China International Wellness and Healthcare Science Association and Chairman of Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital. The two engaged in a warm and friendly exchange.

Yukio Hatoyama, Ma Wenpu, Chen Xiaohong, Qin Zhigang, Su Shishu, Sang Fujin, Kiyomizu Seno, among the 24 distinguished guests from China and Japan jointly pressed the forum launch screen, symbolizing the official commencement of a new chapter in China-Japan medical cooperation.
At the subsequent signing ceremony, Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital signed a number of important cooperation agreements with Japanese medical institutions. Additionally, the hospital entered into agreements with Olympus, Topcon, Shimadzu Corporation, and other organizations to collaborate on the clinical application and technological promotion of medical equipment.
At the opening ceremony, the warmth of China-Japan cultural exchange was also on full display. Former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama graciously inscribed the calligraphy piece “Healing with Friendship” for Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital, expressing his heartfelt congratulations through elegant brushstrokes. Meanwhile, Su Shishu, Honorary Chairman of the China Calligraphers Association, presented the hospital with a plaque bearing its name, “Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital”, along with a calligraphy work reading “Life First, People First”, embodying the humanistic spirit and sense of mission that underpin the medical profession.
In addition, Chinese representatives used diverse artistic expressions to highlight the profound cultural ties between China and Japan. Qin Zhigang, former Vice Chairman, Deputy Party Secretary, and Executive Secretary of the China Federation of Literary and Art Circles, personally presented a calligraphy piece of his own creation to Yukio Hatoyama. Zhuang Mingzheng, Council Member of the China Artists Association, captured the friendship in a vivid portrait painting. Zhu Bingren, Master of Chinese Arts and Crafts, gifted a finely cast bronze seal, while Rong Tie, Council Member of the Xiling Seal Art Society, presented a traditional Chinese painting. Dong Zhu, Director of the Zhu Bingren Art Museum, contributed a pair of couplets. Furthermore, Huang Jia, Executive Vice President and Secretary-General of the International Health and Medical Promotion Association, and Xu Ye, Special Commissioner to Japan of the China Association of Rehabilitation Technology Transformation & Promotion, presented a carved seal on behalf of Fang Li to Mrs. Miyuki Hatoyama. The stone engraving symbolized a lasting vision of friendship between the two nations, etched in the elegance of traditional craftsmanship.
During the keynote session of the forum, Chen Xiaohong, former Deputy Director of the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, delivered a keynote speech titled Life First: Meeting the Needs for Rehabilitation and Wellness. Chen Yanwei, Academician of the Engineering Academy of Japan, gave a keynote address on The Current State and Future Trends of Artificial Intelligence in Medical Imaging. Huang Dongfeng, Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Rehabilitation, presented a keynote titled Integrative Innovation of Brain Science, Artificial Intelligence, and Rehabilitation: Global Practices and Bay Area Approaches to Building a Future Health Ecosystem. During the interactive session, participants engaged in lively discussions on topics such as medical data sharing and mutual recognition of cross-border medical qualifications.
During the high-level dialogue session, Professor Takao Someya of the University of Tokyo and President of the Materials Research Society (USA) delivered a video address. Experts from China and Japan engaged in in-depth exchanges on a range of topics, including medical innovation technologies, hospital management, and the application of wearable devices.
During the forum, Mr. Yukio Hatoyama and his wife Miyuki Hatoyama, along with Ma Wenpu, Chen Xiaohong, Qin Zhigang, Su Shishu, Sang Fujin, Kiyomizu Seno, and more than 50 medical experts from China and Japan, visited various departments of Xi’an International Medical Center Hospital—including the Emergency Department, Radiology Department, Ophthalmology Department, and the Vision Center—to view the hospital’s state-of-the-art medical equipment. During the visit, Yukio Hatoyama personally experienced the hospital’s cutting-edge medical technologies and high-quality services, expressing sincere praise for its excellence. Chinese and Japanese experts also held in-depth discussions on the clinical application and technological collaboration of the equipment, expressing admiration for the widespread use of internationally advanced medical technologies and giving high recognition to the hospital’s diagnostic environment, technical capabilities, and comprehensive service capacity.
This forum served as an effective platform for China-Japan medical cooperation through multi-dimensional exchanges, including policy interpretation, technology demonstrations, and project signings. As Yukio Hatoyama remarked at the opening ceremony, “Science knows no borders, and medical cooperation is an important bridge of friendship between China and Japan. We look forward to working together in innovation to contribute our wisdom to the health and well-being of the people of both nations—and the world.”
